The Highest Command! October 8, 2026

“For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:14
Today’s Word
It is incredibly easy to overcomplicate faith. We often make a mental checklist of what it means to be a "good person" or a faithful believer: attending services, reading a specific number of pages, or avoiding a long list of behaviors. While discipline is valuable, the Apostle Paul cuts through all the complexity in this single sentence. He reminds us that the entire heart of God’s law boils down to one simple, yet profoundly challenging action: loving the person right in front of you.
Loving your neighbor as yourself means extending the same patience, grace, and benefit of the doubt to others that you naturally give to yourself. When you are tired, you give yourself rest. When you make a mistake, you want forgiveness. God asks us to turn that same level of care outward. True spiritual maturity isn't measured by how much theological knowledge we have, but by how much love we share with the people in our daily lives, our family, our co-workers, and even the people who test our patience.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for making Your desire for my life so clear. Forgive me for the times I complicate faith or prioritize rules over people. Give me Your eyes to see the people around me today. Help me to love my neighbors practically, patiently, and selflessly, just as You have loved me. Amen.
