This verse recounts when Israel’s leaders, despite realizing they had been deceived, chose to honor their oath because it was made before the Lord. It’s a clear reminder that integrity is more than doing what’s easy—it’s doing what’s right in God’s eyes. Sunday is a perfect time to reflect on our commitments and promises. Our faithfulness in keeping our word, even when it’s costly, mirrors God’s unwavering faithfulness toward us.

Prayer

Lord, as I worship You this Sunday, help me examine my heart and my commitments. Teach me to be faithful in my words and actions, and to keep my promises with integrity. May the way I live reflect Your truth and steadfast love to those around me. Amen.
