Higher Ways! September 20, 2026

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts.”

Today’s Word

We often spend our days trying to map out our lives with perfect precision. We establish timelines, predict outcomes, and expect life to follow a specific, logical path. When a sudden detour happens, or when prayers do not get answered the exact way we envisioned, it is incredibly easy to fall into confusion, anxiety, or frustration.

Isaiah reminds us that our human perspective is deeply limited. We view our circumstances through a tiny window, while God sees the entire horizon. His logic operates on a completely different plane than ours. What looks like a setback to us is often His protection. What feels like a painful delay is frequently His perfect timing at work.

Accepting that God’s ways are higher than ours requires a shift from demanding answers to surrendering control. It means acknowledging that we do not need to understand every detail of the map as long as we know and trust the One who is leading the way. When your thoughts fail to make sense of your current situation, you can find profound peace in knowing that His thoughts toward you are filled with goodness, mercy, and ultimate purpose.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I admit that I often try to figure everything out on my own and demand that things happen on my schedule. Forgive me for the times I doubt Your plan simply because it looks different than mine. Today, I choose to rest in the truth that Your thoughts and Your ways are infinitely higher than my own. Give me the grace to walk by faith, to trust Your heart when I cannot trace Your hand, and to find true peace in Your sovereign care. In Jesus' name, Amen.
