“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”

Proverbs 14:12

Today’s Word

Have you ever used a GPS that confidently directed you down a dead-end street or a road under construction? In the moment, following those directions felt completely right. You had a map, a route, and a destination in mind. It is only when you hit the barricade that you realize the path you trusted was wrong.

Life often presents us with paths that look incredibly appealing. They promise happiness, success, validation, or comfort. Our human logic tells us, "This makes sense. This feels right." However, Solomon reminds us in this proverb that human intuition is an unreliable compass. Our perspective is limited. We see the immediate gratification of a choice, but God sees the ultimate destination.

When we rely solely on our own understanding, we easily drift into habits, relationships, or mindsets that quietly erode our peace, our integrity, and our faith. Seeking "the way that seems right" to the world often leads to spiritual dead ends.

True wisdom means pausing before we press forward. It requires us to lay our plans, our desires, and our "good ideas" before God, asking Him to align our hearts with His truth. When we surrender our internal GPS to the Holy Spirit, He guides us away from hidden dangers and leads us down the path of genuine, everlasting life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I confess that I often try to steer my own life based on what makes sense to me. Forgive me for the times I have rushed ahead without asking for Your guidance. Give me the discernment to recognize paths that look good but lead away from You. I surrender my plans, my decisions, and my future into Your hands today. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation. Amen.
