"A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly. All the days of the afflicted are evil, but the cheerful of heart has a continual feast."
Proverbs 15:13–15
Today’s Word
The condition of your heart has the power to shape your entire day. Proverbs 15 reminds us that “a glad heart makes a cheerful face,” but sorrow can weigh heavily on the spirit. When joy is rooted deep within, it overflows—not just in smiles, but in how we live, speak, and see the world.
God invites us to walk in wisdom, to seek truth, and to fill our hearts with things that bring life. While challenges may come, we don’t have to feed on negativity or let discouragement win. A heart that chooses joy in every season finds continual strength.
You can’t always choose your circumstances, but you can choose where your heart dwells—on God's goodness, peace, and promises.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the joy that comes from knowing You. Help me guard my heart and seek understanding instead of dwelling on things that drain my spirit. When life feels overwhelming, teach me to turn to You and find joy that overflows, no matter what I face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
