“They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.”
Mark 7:7
Today’s Word
God is not impressed by performance—He desires authenticity. In this verse, Jesus calls out empty worship: devotion that looks good on the outside but is disconnected from the heart. It’s a reminder that following Him isn’t about religious routines or man-made rules. It’s about relationship.
We can be busy doing the “right things” and still miss the point if our hearts aren’t aligned with His. True worship is more than singing songs or checking boxes—it’s surrender, honesty, and daily connection with Him.
This verse invites us to ask ourselves: Am I living to please God or just trying to meet expectations? He’s not after perfect behavior. He’s after a heart that truly seeks Him.
Prayer
Lord, strip away anything in me that’s just for show. Help me not to get lost in empty routines, but to worship You with sincerity and truth. Draw me closer to You, and let my life be a reflection of genuine love for You. Amen
