“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
John 15:11
Today’s Word
We live in a world that constantly sells us a counterfeit version of joy. We are told that happiness is found in the next milestone, a perfect circumstance, or the absence of trouble. But worldly happiness is conditional—it fluctuates with the highs and lows of our daily lives.
In John 15, Jesus offers something radically different: His joy.
Right before this verse, Jesus talks about the vine and the branches. He reminds us that true strength and fruitfulness come from abiding—staying deeply connected to Him. Jesus isn't sharing these instructions to burden us with rules; He is giving us the secret blueprint to a full heart.
Notice that He wants your joy to be complete. Not temporary, not half-hearted, and not dependent on your current circumstances. Because His joy is rooted in His unchanging love, it can sustain you even on your hardest days. When you rest in His presence and walk in His steps, your soul finds the exact fulfillment it was created for.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your plans for me are rooted in love and true joy. Forgive me for the times I look for fulfillment in things that fade away. Help me to abide in You today, to rest in Your presence, and to let Your joy anchor my heart through every circumstance. May my life reflect the complete joy that only comes from being Your child. In Jesus' name, Amen.
