As we step into a new month, Ephesians 2:3 reminds us of something powerful: we all have a past, but we don’t have to live there. Paul describes who we were before Christ—driven by our own desires and shaped by a nature that pulled us away from God. It’s a picture of life without direction, without peace, and without the freedom only God can give.

But starting this new month, this verse invites us to pause and remember how far God has brought us. December begins with a reminder of grace. We are not defined by who we used to be. God has stepped into our story, changed our direction, and given us a new identity. What once controlled us has been broken by the power of His love.

This is the perfect way to begin December—with gratitude. Every day of this month can be a celebration of God’s mercy, His restoring power, and the new life He has given us in Christ. Let this first day be a declaration that you are walking forward, not backward.

As you enter the final month of the year, know this: your past is covered, your present is redeemed, and your future is secure in Him.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your mercy and for the new life I have in Christ. As I begin this month of December, help me leave behind everything that no longer reflects who I am in You. Strengthen me to walk in freedom, purpose, and gratitude. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
